prof Kazimieras Baršauskas Ultrasound Research Institute

We are involved in many projects concerning various applications of ultrasonic techniques for space research, nuclear plants, aerospace industry, monitoring of various manufacturing processes. Our research teams are working in development of non-destructive testing techniques for composite materials, journal and sleeve bearings, components, used at nuclear plants, are creating non-invasive methods for medical applications.

  • The main area of interest covers development of new advanced ultrasonic measurement, imaging and non-destructive techniques for extreme conditions (high temperatures, strong radioactive radiation, high pressure and chemical activity), non-conventional applications of NDT, monitoring and quality control
  • The Institute’s staff possess specific knowledge and unique know-how on development of ultrasonic measurement techniques for non-conventional applications; ultrasonic long range testing techniques using ultrasonic guided waves; air-coupled NDT ultrasonic technologies; techniques of signal processing and modelling
  • The Institute‘s research activity is realised during long-term projects and contracts with Lithuanian and foreign companies, also in cooperation with other Lithuanian and foreign scientific research institutions
  • The innovative ultrasonic diagnostic technologies are based on fundamental and applied research exploiting acoustics, mathematical physics, materials science, numerical modelling, electronics, signal and image processing
